Start the summer right!

Join us for a family friendly evening of dance and music performance, accompanied by light snacks and beverages

THE SELDOMS

Riveting and marvelous, THE SELDOMS will perform Bower Dance developed in response to artist Edra Soto’s Screen House in Millennium Park. The Seldoms’ Artistic Director, (North Riverside Resident) Carrie Hanson has been working with Edra as part of Carrie’s Toolbox Project in which dance is based in and springs from the physicality of visual art.

In Carrie’s words, “Bower Dance is about dwellings and dwelling with, gatherings and gathering, lines and circling of arms and in brick.” and “We're thinking about circles, pattern, dwellings, connection, and bowerbirds! (If you don’t know about the incredible bowerbird, look it up…we think Edra is a kind of bowerbird).”

NOTE: you can also see The Seldoms in Floe projected on “Art on the Mart” in downtown Chicago until the end of June. And Bower Dance will also be performed in Millenium Park one-day only, as part of the Millennium Park Pop-Up Performances on SATURDAY, June 18 at 4pm, 4:30pm, 5pm. Set to music by Renee Baker and the Chicago Modern Orchestra Project

"Bower Dance" pairs @carriehanson and @edrasoto for the 2022 Toolbox project, a cross-disciplinary conversation. #artsmidwest

This engagement is supported by the Arts Midwest GIG Fund, a program of Arts Midwest that is funded by the National Endowment for the Arts, with additional contributions from the Illinois Art Council.

The Acapella Fellas

Enjoy the acapella stylings of our own Board member, Jay Van Cura and Joe Saintcross for a 20 minute performance.

“Joe Saintcross, a lyrical tenor, and Jay Van Cura, a harmonizing baritone, comprise the entertaining vocal duet “Acappella Fellas”. Our music is “Acappella” in a style of beautiful, close harmony. We perform primarily for Senior, Civic, and Community groups in a variety of settings including clubs, community centers, residential communities, township auditoriums, and church services. Past performance venues include the Riverside branch of the Lyric Opera, Rush Street in Chicago, Northwestern Medical Center, Burbank Community Center, and multiple other locations throughout extended Chicagoland. Our entertainment programs consist of Broadway Musicals and Pop Hits of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s with lighthearted musical history banter between songs. Our audiences consistently give us rave reviews as both musicians and entertainers.”
